the
timeline
of the rise of global capitalism and the resistance to it. 2. Climate Change and Sustainability We hear a great
deal about climate change and global warming. Workshops on climate
change can
be tailored to a number of different levels from the basic science to
an over
view on climate international processes. The aim of this workshop is to
analyse
and give participants tools with
which
they begin to make the much needed changes in their lives. 3. The Oil Industry
4. Workable Alternatives and
Environmental
Sustainability This workshop
identifies the participants climate ’foot print’ and through a series
of
exercises discusses what they would and wouldn’t be prepared to do in
order to
make themselves carbon neutral and change their lives
How do we really
make poverty history? This workshop explores some of the recent
development in
the debt and aid debate and encourages discussion amongst participants
to
explore the issues further through role plays and issues lines 6. Global Movements and Resistance This workshop
explores the phenomena of the alter/ globalisation movement. Why people
protests and how they have been doing it. We also examine what the
protestors
want and the feelings of participants about the world that they live in. 7. Participatory Methods of Education Whether its
curriculum development training or simply wanting to make classes more
interesting, this workshop looks at different theories learning and
explores
the outcomes of different activities, games, exercises that aim to
inform,
inspire and enable participants 8. Consensus Decision Making and
Facilitation. Comprehensive
training in working with non-hierarchical, consensus driven forms of
organising. Tools for making consensus work, what to do when there is
no
agreement and how to manage difficult meetings. 9. Dealing with the Media .If your running
a campaign, launching a new community initiative knowing how to deal
with the
media and develop a strategy is very useful. This workshop explores
some useful
tips, techniques, practices interview technique and writing press
releases and
developing good communications strategy. 10. Emotional Health How to support
people experiencing trauma or stress. Techniques for recognising
symptoms and
ways in which to practically help people. All of the above sessions can be
'training for
trainers' so that we use the session to enable other people to give
workshops
on these subjects. 11. Pub Quiz If the above
matter is too heavy a light hearted pub quiz could be just what’s
needed to
deal with some of the ills of the world in a slightly different
fashion. From
climate change to debt whilst people are slowly slipping hedonistically
away
there is still a chance to make them sit up. 12. Film Screenings We also have a
whole host of documentaries around a whole variety of issues from long
and more
serious to short amusing subverts. Films screenings can be an excellent
way of
bringing people together. For a comprehensive list of our films please
