Who are we and what do we do

Trapese is a popular education collective that is committed to bringing alive and promoting popular education as an essential concept in the raising awareness of and supporting of social and environmental campaigns and issues.

We aim to produce and share resources, use participatory, interactive methods of learning, develop a critical awareness of the world we live in, build links between local and global struggles, promote viable and sustainable alternatives to capitalism and engage with and support the struggles and resistances of groups.

More on Trapese

Trapese is a a popular education collective which aims to provoke debate and inspire positive social change through interactive workshops and various social events. Our backgrounds and interests are diverse and include community theatre, international solidarity work, sustainable living projects and outreach and campaigning work with various anti-capitalist and ecological struggles.

There is a real and evident need for the type of work and workshops that Trapese has been doing. There is an almost universal acceptance that we face an ecological and social crisis if we as the human race do not take immediate and meaningful steps to avert and avoid these crises. In Trapese we see education and in particular popular education an essential facet in creating that awareness and building social change.

Trapese is now working on building a database of resources available for download and on workshops and activities related to climate change, the global economy, living alternatives, debt and popular education methodology

We are an independent, non hierarchical collective that is involved with autonomous movements, We are not a recruitment agency for any set political ideology or party, as such our approach is non judgmental and based in respect for varying opinions and beliefs- because we do not believe that there is any one blue print for social change but a myriad of different ways, forms and expressions that we are exploring and will continue to explore.

The philosophy of Trapese is based around the idea that we create own own destinies and our own futures, that we do have control over ourselves and that in order to build better possible worlds we need to take a leap from one Trapese to the other- enter the unknown and explore.
